Insulator Heaters
The purpose of insulator heaters is to prevent condensation from forming on the insulators and causing electrical
tracking and possible insulator breakage. Commonly supplied on low temperature precipitators and units which cycle
during startup phases, the heaters are not in direct contact with flue gas and are thermostatically controlled for
operation at approximately 300 F.
Applications:
- Cold startup before operating temperatures reach and exceed dewpoint
- Cyclic process operations
- Near dewpoint operation
- Oil-Fired Boilers
Benefits:
- Reduced insulator high voltage tracking
- Increased insulator life
- Improved reliability/availability
